Dr Franelise Hofmeyr was born in Pietermaritzburg, Kwazulu Natal, in 1981, and grew up in the small town of Parys (Northern Free state) as the oldest of 4 children. She obtained her medical degree (MBChB) as well as her post-graduate Masters of Medicine O&G through the University of Stellenbosch, Tygerberg medical campus. In 2012 she became an Obstetric and Gynaecology Fellow of the South African College of Medicine (FCOG - CMSA) and has been practising at Christiaan Barnard Memorial hospital since January 2013. With two children of her own, she understands the pressures of juggling a professional career and family responsibilities and strives to support woman through all walks of life in order to better our society for the sake of the generations that will follow.
